It’s not what you cut, it’s what you cut on that dulls a knife. Use wood or Poly-Propylene (plastic) for best efficiency. DO NOT CUT ON: glass, marble, tile, granite, Corian, metal cookware, stone-wear, countertops or cement. You will knives will wear on average 3-4 times faster. When two surfaces come in contact, somethings gotta give!

Jared offers FREE Courtesy Sharpening for DD Edges every 3-5 years
The FREE full-service appt takes about an hour. You will get a free inspection of all products for wear or damage and sharpening of DD Edges and straight edged knives. My job is to sharpen your knives, our goal is to keep them sharp as long as possible. Education is Key. I will give your household helpful tips for long-term edge retention. Everyone who uses the knives should be present. Some knives may require FREE factory service under the CUTCO Forever Guarantee should they need to be reground, and I can walk you through the process which is really easy. CALL ME to schedule when you notice burrs catching at the edge of the teeth on the DD edge.
CUTCO DD Edge is designed to stay sharp for 7-10 years with no maintenance by you. With in-home sharpening, they can stay sharp for decades!
CUTCO Straight Edges require regular maintenance by the owner for long-term sharpness. The #82 hand-held sharpener should be used at least once a month, or before/after a big job. Touch them up before they get dull. Once you lose the edge, they will have to go back to the factory for regrinding. Email Jared for a Service Request Form.

The DD Edge is very durable, but NOT a bone-saw.
Will stay sharp for 5-7 big game animals.
The straight edge is better for skinning, and requires sharpening during use.
The field can be Out-Of-Control: with rocks, dirt, bone, hair, hide, tundra-seasoning, etc... These things dull and damage the edge more than just a cutting board.
For best results long-term, I recommend sending all outdoor knives back to factory for sharpening during the off season. Email Jared for the service request form.
